The AAD 2026 was a major event with broad international participation and presentation of many innovations on inflammatory skin conditions. The AAD 2026 was a major event with broad international participation and presentation of many innovations on inflammatory skin conditions. With the broad range of activities in many inflammatory skin diseases, dermatology is changing fundamentally. In the field of psoriasis, there is a shift from innovations on biologics to small molecules and peptides. Also innovations on non-steroidal topical therapies. Important developments are new drugs targeted, for example, at Janus kinases and TYK-2, which show markedly different treatment outcomes due to distinct interactions with the treatment targets. The fundamental changes in treatment opportunities are now built into clinical practise. The future is now available for patients with inflammatory skin diseases, ready to revolutionise their treatment today.

Biography

Peter C.M. van de Kerkhof is emeritus Professor of Dermatology and immediate past chairman of the Department of Dermatology of Radboud University Nijmegen. He is currently the coordinating Medical Officer of the International Psoriasis Council and chair of the scientific advisory board of the Dutch Burn Association. He has been working for many years on the pathogenesis and treatment of psoriasis. He has published more than 700 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has given many invited presentations at international conferences. He has served as president of the ESDR, EDF, and the International Psoriasis Council, and was a board member of various international societies. Current interests are pathogenesis and development of biomarkers for psoriasis; real clinical practice research; and personalised medicine.
