At EHA 2026, new data in CML are focusing on several key challenges beyond survival, including optimisation of first-line treatment, treatment-free remission, and prevention of disease progression. Updated results from ASC4FIRST and ASCEND further explore the role of asciminib, while the NAUT study provides new insights into the feasibility of a second attempt at treatment-free remission. In addition, innovative single-cell analyses suggest that blast crisis-initiating clones may be detectable at diagnosis, opening new possibilities for early risk stratification and prevention. As patients increasingly live long and healthy lives with CML, attention is shifting towards quality of life, long-term tolerability, and achieving successful treatment-free remission.
